You can do Makerspace at home! Did you know that most of the items in the “cardboard area” are things most people throw away. You most likely have some of these items in your home. Toilet paper/paper towel tubes, strawberry baskets, lids and bottle caps, empty water bottles, egg cartons, tin cans, Amazon boxes, and so many more things. Start collecting these items before they get thrown away. Then let your imaginations run wild!
IMPORTANT: Please get permission from an adult before starting any project. Make sure they know what supplies you are using and where you plan on doing the project.

Challenge #1 Paper Airplane Challenge
First watch the video on how to fold a paper airplane. Then grab a tape measure and see how far you can throw your airplane. Email me the longest length you threw your plane and I will put it on the website. Include your name and teachers name by April 17th, [email protected] . If you loved this activity, there are so many more airplane tutorials on You Tube!

Challenge #2 Chalk Your Walk
Did you know a lot of people are drawing on their sidewalks with chalk right now to spread cheer to their neighborhood. Have you already done this? If not, all you need is some chalk and a sidewalk. Once you are done, take a picture of you and your sidewalk, and email to [email protected]. I can’t wait to see the creativity and kindness from our Mountain View family.
Here is a picture of Mae’s chalk at our house.

Challenge #3 Laser Maze
Supplies Needed: Birthday Streamers, Tape
This is an engineering and critical thinking activity. In a hallway, tape streamers to the wall creating an obstacle course. Make sure it’s tricky but possible to get your body through the path. Were you a successful laser ninja? Don’t throw those streamers away, just make your maze more challenging.
